Adorable Birdies! :)

I cannot believe that it is already December! It's crazy how fast time has flown since I came to college....geez I'm so old it's ridiculous. I'm basically a grandma now, that's how old I feel. Now I'm definitely not saying that all grandma's are old, you guys are so young and hip, I love it! Ok moving on...

I've been feeling super old lately, and I feel all dilapidated and junk, so I decided to do something to make me feel young again, and I found the perfect pin! My roommate and I found a pin showing us how to draw cute little birdies. It was fantastic. :) It took me back to the days when I was all young and spry, when I used to draw things all the time. And color lots of coloring books. Back when I didn't have to worry about paying for rent, and food, and tuition, and clothes, and food, and ice cream, and gas, and treats, and did I already say food? Yeah, I just have to pay for lots of things on my own now. It's not so good. But, drawing this birdy made me feel happy!

This 6-step program takes almost no effort. That was the greatest thing about it. I picked up a sharpie, drew a few lines, and the next thing I knew a beautiful bird appeared. If only the rest of the things in my life were that simple right now! Finals week is crazy. This week is crazy. I can’t wait for life to not be crazy! But I guess crazy is a fun way to live, it keeps you super hyper! Until you crash and it’s 10:49pm and you’re trying to blog about drawing a bird, and you attempt to take a cat nap on the dining room table chairs but that hurts your back, so you try to get up but you can’t so your roommate has to help you, and then you feel all sorts of embarrassed, and then you realize you still have to finish making your post, and then you get depressed, and then you ramble on. Yep. This is my life right now.

Anyway, back to the pin. It’s fantastic. Seriously, if I were a little kid and I wanted to draw a birdy all by myself, I would love these instructions. It is so easy and it made me feel like a straight up artist. That’s a good feeling. So if any of you have children that want to be able to draw a bird all on their own (you know when they’re in the stage where they don’t want any help doing things but they kind of do need help) this is perfect! Give them the instructions, and let them create to their hearts content!

I give this pin a 7.78… it’s pretty fantastic and I really think that little kids would love this. College students loved it. My roommate Natalie, says, “It’s a pretty bird”. There you have it folks. Words of wisdom from a college student. That was quite a profound statement there Natalie! Thanks for that.

Haha, ok well I’m going to call it a day. I think that my brain is fried from how much school, homework, and studying I’ve been doing. Not to mention the time I spent on Pinterest and Facebook…maybe one day I won’t waste so much time on those websites. I’ll let you know how that goes. Oh ps…I may or may not have broken one of our chairs today when I sat down. It was a sad day. But also ridiculously funny and made my whole day. I guess all that ice cream is not so good for me. Ok, I’m really done. I promise.

One more thing, my family has what is called goodbye disorder…we can’t say goodbye very well at all. It takes us like a half hour just to say goodbye and finally come to terms with the fact that we are going to be separated for who knows how long! So yeah, it makes family parties super great. I mean, we have to start saying goodbye to each other right after the party starts practically. Haha ok that might have been an exaggeration, bye everyone!

From "Drab" to "Fab"!!!

      Oh my lanta guys!! This was such a great pin. For reals. It all started a few days ago when I was looking on Pinterest and saw this wonderful creation, a scarf. Scarves are wonderful. I love them! So naturally when I saw a DIY scarf I just couldn't resist. I caved. I had to try it. And I did. 
       I started my mission by doing what any good crafter would do, I read the instructions. That's right, you heard me correctly. I actually read the instructions this time, and boy did it pay off in the end! Of course when you look at the original pin, you will see that the directions consist of three words: Cut, Slice, Pull. So easy a cave man could do it! Literally. I saw it on a documentary once....ok you caught me! I lied. It wasn't a scarf they made, it was a wheel which if you ask me is slightly more impressive but much less fashionable. Ah well, let's let bygones be bygones. 
     So anyway, after I read the instructions, I got the materials. This is the best part, I didn't even have to go to the store and spend money on this one! That's right, I had everything that I needed....all I had to do was search through my drawers until I found a shirt that was expendable and that white T-shirt definitely fit the criteria. And just a little fyi my definition of "expendable" is this: if I lose this will I cry uncontrollably for several weeks on end and feel the urge to eat several gallons of ice cream to drown my sorrows and block out any sense of pain? And thankfully losing that shirt has only thus far caused mild to spicy depression and the urge to eat lots of cinnamon bears. But then every time I see that beautiful scarf, life is good again. :) So it's really NBD (that's no big deal for those of you who aren't fluent in text lingo/jargon). 
     After I had picked the shirt that I would sacrifice, I got out the scissors (aka the murder weapon) and in a sudden turn of events started hacking away at the shirt. It was a massacre! Haha....jokes on you it really was quite calm and somewhat therapeutic. I cut the shirt right where the waistline is and just chopped it in half (it was more like 2/3s of the way up). Then I proceeded to cut slices halfway up the part I had just cut off. You know what, you're just going to have to look at the pictures because it's very hard to explain how I cut this thing...
     But anyway, after I cut it all I had left to do was to pull on the strips that I had just cut to make them look cooler, there is a more specific reason but all that matters is that it made it look much cooler. So after I did that, which only took about 5 minutes, the scarf was ready to wear! 
     I wanted to look high class so I put together a totes great outfit and put the scarf with it and DANG! It was a good outfit! At least I thought so....no one else really said anything about it. Literally. No one complimented it. That was a smidge frustrating, but I got over it because I thought it looked good.       Actually, at church one girl asked me if I got the idea for the scarf off of Pinterest and I proudly said "Yes! And it was so easy to make!" She thought it was cute, and so I was pleased with my efforts. 
     For a five-minute craft this was definitely top quality, and it was so simple! I would give this craft a 9 out of 10 (on a scale of 1 to 10 of course). FYI a 9 means: A wonderfully, amazing, classy, non-tacky, and as good as a virgin Pina Colada. Oh boy that means it's a good one in case you were curious and maybe don't share the same love for Pina Coladas that I do. They are just delightful. 
     Well, I guess that's all. I hope you enjoyed reading this and that it made you laugh and inspired you to make this wonderful scarf. Oh, if you have any suggestions on what I could do with the rest of the shirt that I didn't use to make the scarf that would be so fabulous because then I wouldn't have to waste it...and it would be better for the environment!
